Director’s message 120

“In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins, not through strength but by perseverance.” (H. Jackson Brown)

Today was the final day of what was a very busy, productive, and unique 2023 – 2024 Academic School Year. Indeed, we all have much to celebrate, as our MSA Mid-Term Report demonstrated that our U.S. Academic Program continues to strengthen.

I hope the two-month summer vacation, June 14th – August 19th, will provide our community with a well-deserved break and opportunity to recharge for another year of growth and learning in 2024 – 2025.

It is also, sadly, the time of the year at which we say farewell to members of the ISO community who will be moving on to new beginnings. As mentioned often, change and transition are two constants here at the International School of Ouagadougou. As we found out this afternoon, it is never easy to say goodbye!! This remains true this year for my family and me, as we transition from the International School of Ouagadougou. I would like to express on behalf of the “Trudeau’s” our deep gratitude to our faculty, parents, and staff, for all their support over the last four years; it was a pleasure to work with you in service to our students.

Summer Office Hours

The school office will be open for all but two weeks during the summer holiday:

Final Notes:

I offer a special thank you to our entire community at large for all the work that we have done on behalf of our students. Thomas Edison once said … “it is not what you have, but what you do with what you have that makes all the difference.” Well, here at the International School of Ouagadougou, we have a great community, and indeed with the support of this community, we have had a very, very special year!

Looking at the school yearbook this afternoon, I know that next year is going to be an even greater chapter in our school’s young history.

I wish you all a safe, happy, and relaxing summer vacation. I plan to be here until early July, with our new Director Ms. Myna Anderson arriving later in the month.

Saludos Cordiales

Jeff
