Employment
Thank you for considering the International School of Ouagadougou as your next international school family. We are a small private, U.S. Embassy supported, non-profit learning community with a diverse set of teachers committed to student growth in character, critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and community involvement.
With this in mind, we strive as educators to professionally develop ourselves through collaborative growth and application of best teaching practices.
Only certified and qualified candidates will be considered.
Our 130 or so students deserve the best teachers!
ISO seeks teachers who are qualified and passionate about their subjects, and we give preference to those who can teach multiple subjects and who coach or offer activites after school.
For our IBDP program, we seek teachers with IBDP experience and a track record of success preparing a wide variety of students for DP assessments. Training will be given to selected candidates as needed.
There is life in Ouagadougou! Yet, the country is continuing the fight against insecurity. Applicants must be flexible and able to build dynamic school programs. Since Burkina Faso is Francophone and in the heart of the Sahel, a little French and experience thriving in other challenging, vibrant countries will be a plus.
Immediate Position: starting February 2025
- Elementary Music Teacher — Part-time: We seek a passionate music teacher, hopefully with some Orff-Schulwerk or Kodaly training, and with experience teaching elementary music from PreKindergarten 3 to Grade 5. Our beloved music teacher is moving out of country, and we need someone ready to fill her shoes starting in February 2025.
Upcoming Positions: starting August 2025
- K/1 Classroom Teacher — Full-time: We seek a passionate early elementary teacher, trained in foundational literacy and numeracy skills to deliver Eureka Math, AERO standards, NGSS Science, and EL Education ELA units to an endearing class of Kindergarten and Grade 1 students. Overseas teaching couples with teaching partners in other listed areas are encouraged to apply.
- Band, Drama & Music Teacher, PK-G12 — Full-time: We seek a passionate general music and band teacher to teach PK-G5 general music, G10 Drama, and two elective classes in MS/HS — Performing Arts and Band. Overseas teaching couples with teaching partners in other listed areas are encouraged to apply.
- IBDP Math & Physics Teacher, G6-12 — Full-time: ISO is looking for a top-level physics & math teacher whose passion is to make all students passionate and confident in these subjects. IBDP Physics experience is a must! A strong understanding of concept-based math teaching, math modeling, and how to inspire kids to push themselves is a plus. Math teachers with OBDP experience can have a DP Math class as well if desired. Overseas teaching couples with teaching partners in other listed areas are encouraged to apply.
- IBDP Biology & Science Teacher, G6-12 — Full-time: ISO is looking for a top-level DP Biology and science teacher whose passion is to make all students experts in scientific inquiry. A strong understanding of NGSS and IBDP standards is required. IBDP Biology teaching experience and dynamic pedagogy is a must!
