[isostaff_support] [isostaff] [isonews] ISO August 2020 Reopening Plan for 2020-2021

Dear ISO Community,
(francais ci-dessous)

Since the Leadership Team here at the International School of Ouagadougou has returned to our historic school site on Monday, August 3rd, we have had some great questions from our community about our reopening on August 19th, 2020. We want to support your confidence about the school year ahead. Right now, new and returning faculty members are either here in Ouagadougou, or finalizing their return plans.

We are getting our campus ready with health and safety protocols. Our goal is to maximize the health and safety of all community members, while optimizing the level of student learning.

Entry into Ouagadougou

The International Airport of Ouagadougou has been open since August 1st, 2020. However, strict measures have been put in place to control arrivals and departures.

The measures in place are:

  • All passengers wishing to fly to and from Burkina Faso must provide a negative Covid19 PCR test, not older than 5 days. Otherwise, they will undergo a test at their own expense. The cost of the test is 90,000 FCFA. The passenger on arrival will be confined in a hotel, at his own expense, until the results of the test are available.
  • Every traveler will have to fill in a location sheet with his full contact details.
  • Either on departure or arrival, a health declaration form will be filled in at the airport.

Here is the article (in French) regarding the opening of the airport.

ISO August 2020 Reopening Plan

In preparation for an on-campus return in two weeks’ time, we have been developing health and safety protocols that will be followed this fall for the protection of our students and employees. Attached is our August 2020 Reopening Plan.

Please note that the reopening plan is a living document that will be modified as the present health pandemic evolves in Ouagadougou, and globally. Additionally, once we begin implementing the protocols, we know that they will continue to be adjusted for efficiency and practicality.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email isoreopening2020@iso.bf.

On behalf of the leadership team, I want to thank you all for your continued support of ISO. We are looking forward to seeing you all in Ouagadougou. It’s going to be a great year – perhaps challenging – but still great!…as we work together to focus on our students’ academic and social growth.
