ISO Message from the Director:

RE: School Governance 2020 – 2021

Academic Excellence, Economic Security, and Long-Term School Viability

Board Mission: The International School of Ouagadougou Board of Trustees, in active partnership with the community, shall provide an academically excellent, economically secure, safe and nurturing environment. The Board of Trustees’ goal is long-term school viability for all students, through a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes strong academic achievement, while meeting and exceeding international standards; and challenging each student to build on natural abilities and develop skills to be a life-long learner.

The International School of Ouagadougou wishes to thank the following members of the 2020 – 2021 Board of Trustees for their service:

The Board of Trustees will have their first meeting, as a “new board”, next week, on Tuesday, November 24th, at 6:00p.m. in the ISO Auditorium.

The Board members have already received a written overview of both:

  • Individual trustees’ responsibilities
  • Overall Board responsibilities

The core goal of the Board is not just to focus on the “here” and “now”; the Trustees also have the unique responsibilities in holding the school’s future viability “in trust.”

The Board of Trustees will discover that the challenges and demands of trusteeship are considerable, but so are the rewards:

  • Being part of an honorable enterprise
  • Realizing the power of collaboration
  • Enjoying the satisfaction of service!

If you have any additional questions, about the role of Governance at ISO, you are welcome to contact the Board Directly at isobaord@iso.bf.

The agenda for the open session of the Board Meeting was sent, along with the three PowerPoint presentations shown at our Association meeting on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020.
