ISO Community,

RE: Emergency Drills and After School Activity Program
8/29/23

Today, the International School of Ouagadougou had a Fire Drill. The purpose was to provide Students, Teachers, and Staff with our guidelines and plans in the case of an emergency. We know that in a serious crisis, the response must be swift and sure to avoid confusion and panic. Personnel in the school are expected to act quickly and responsibly.
The chances of a person remaining calm and rational during a crisis are dramatically increased with proper preparation. In the next thirty days, all school personnel are expected to be familiar with the procedures of each of our emergency drills and to practice with the utmost seriousness, in order to assist the administration in responding to school-specific and/or local emergencies.

After-School Activity Program

Starting Monday, September 4th, 2023, we will hold our first session of the After School Activities Program (ASAP) for the 2023-2024 Year!

This year, the ASAP Program will be held in 3 Sessions in order to offer a wider range of activities to our students and to assist with WAISL planning.

  • Session 1: September 4– November 22
  • Session 2: December 4 – March 7
  • Session 3: March 18 – June 5

Activities will be held from 3:30 p.m.- 4:25 p.m. As part of the school security protocol, no student is permitted to stay after school unless they are enrolled in an ASAP. All participants in after-school activities must be picked up promptly at 4:30 p.m.

Philosophy and Objectives for the After-School Activities Program

The International School of Ouagadougou After School Activity Program provides a variety of experiences for students and gives them the opportunity to excel in areas outside of the classroom.

The following objectives are considered when planning after-school activities:

  • Activities must include instructional components.
  • Activities reinforce ISO’s 5C’s (community, collaboration, creativity, communication & critical thinking)
  • Activities are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • Participating in our ASAP is a privilege, and all students are required to behave and follow the instructions from the activity’s supervisor. Not following the rules may lead to removal from the activity.

Below are the SignUp Genius links. Please sign up as soon as possible; we only have limited openings per activity and the SignUp Genius offers ASAP on a first arrived first served basis.

Registrations are open from August 29, 2023, to September 1st, 2023 and the activities will start on Monday, September 4th, 2023.

Please choose the activity your child would like to attend using the links below:
