What we do
|Current Events||General Overview|
The PTA is involved in many activities at the school.
1. Parent Class Representatives (PCR)
Two parents, one French speaking and one English speaking per grade, volunteer to be class representatives. Parent Class Representatives are important links for information and representation purposes, as well as contact points for parents. The PCR liaises with the parents in the class by keeping them informed of school activities and events. The PCR is a resource for times when the teacher may request assistance or support.
2. Fund Raising Events
Each year the PTA holds several major events, including:
Welcome to Ouaga Potluck (September)
Holiday Festival (December)
African Night (March)
Teacher Appreciation Month activities (April)
In addition there are many smaller events like Trivia Night, Bollywood Night, and others.
After carrying out events, each year the PTA decides how to spend the these funds. In the past, the PTA has funded infrastructure projects like improving the safety of the elementary play ground, teacher generated projects like improving the science lab, and supporting a medical charity field trip for our students.
For this year, we are still in the process of deciding what to support. Funds are usually dispersed in the later end of the school year.
