Accreditation

ISO is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA). See MSA goals set by the Board below.

The school is recognized by the College Board as an approved site for AP instruction and testing.

The school is also a member of the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA), West Africa International Schools Athletic League (WAISAL) and Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE).

MSA Goals

Respect

By 2013, all students will demonstrate respect for themselves, others and the environment as measured by:

  1. A 5% increase in the overall mean score for upper school students on the Loehrer Virtue Assessment for students in grade six through twelve.
  2. 80% of parents, students in grade six through twelve, and teachers will respond with positive answers on a survey designed to measure perceptions about student respect for others and for the environment.
  3. 100% of all students, grades Kindergarten through twelve, are involved in at least one organized community service activity annually.

Performing Arts

By 2013, all students, grade Pre-K through twelve, at ISO will have increased access to experiences in visual and performing arts as evidenced by:

  1. An increase of two purpose built facilities to house visual arts and performance activities.
  2. The employment of a certified music teacher and a certified art teacher.
  3. Inclusion in the budget of 5,000 Euros for the addition of a “Visiting Artist” program.
  4. An average total yearly increase of three after-school activities that focus on the arts above the baseline.

Special Needs

By 2013, ISO will have a program in place to identify, classify and successfully accommodate students with social-emotional, behavioral, cognitive and/or language impairment needs as evidenced by:

  1. 100% of students identified with mild special needs will be in a monitored program agreed to by the counselor, parents, teachers and administration, within one year of their enrollment in ISO.
  2. 90% of parents and teachers of special needs students will agree that the student’s special learning needs have been successfully accommodated,

Writing

By 2013, 90% of non-ESOL students in grades three through twelve who have been enrolled at ISO for at least three years, will demonstrate improved writing proficiency as measured by:

  1. A three-point increase in their total raw score on the WrAP (Writing Assessment Program).
  2. A 5% increase in their total scale scores on the writing portions (Task A and Task B) of the International Schools Assessment (ISA) for grades 3, 5, 7, and 9.
